Volunteer Shifts

Packet Pick-Up/T-Shirts:

  • Friday, 3:30pm – 7:30pm
  • Saturday, 8:30am – 10:30am

Start Line:

  • Saturday, 9:00am – 11:00am

Finish Line:

  • Saturday, 9:00am – 12:00pm

Finish Line Catchers:

  • Saturday, 9:00am – 12:00pm

Post-race Party Assist:

  • Saturday, 10:00am – 1:00pm

Volunteer Position Descriptions

Packet Pick Up/T-Shirts

Description: Volunteers are assigned to two areas within packet pick up–race packets and t-shirt distribution. Volunteers for race packets will verify participants’ identities and give them their race bibs. Volunteers for t-shirt distribution will hand out race t-shirts and goody bags to participants.

Time Commitment: Maximum of 4 hours on Friday (day before race); maximum of 2.5 hours on race day.

Check in Location: Friday April 14th – Volunteer Check In; Bud Metheny Baseball Complex

Check in Location: Saturday April 15th – Volunteer Check In; Faculty/Staff Parking Lot 8

What to Wear: Volunteers will receive a volunteer t-shirt and we encourage you to wear comfortable shoes.

 

Start Line

Description: Volunteers at the 5k & 1k start line assist race staff in putting up the start line arch, preparing and securing start corrals, controlling pre-race start crowds, assisting with corral control and movement during the wave start, and assisting with corral breakdown after the start.

Time Commitment: Maximum of 2.5 hours on race day

Check in Location: Volunteer Check In; Faculty/Staff Parking Lot 8

What to Wear: Volunteers for this position will be outside for their entire shift and should dress for the existing and forecasted weather. Volunteers will be given volunteer t-shirts and we encourage you to wear comfortable shoes.

Finish Line

Description: Volunteers at the finish line assist race staff distributing medals, food, water, and other items to finishers.

Time Commitment: Maximum 2 hours on race day

Check in Location: Volunteer Check In; Faculty/Staff Parking Lot 8

What to Wear: Finish line volunteers are outside for their entire shift and should dress for the existing and forecasted weather. Volunteers will be given volunteer t-shirts and we encourage you to wear comfortable shoes.

 

Finish Line Catcher

Description: Volunteers for this position will be assisting the medical staff in identifying and assisting runners who might be having difficulties as they approach and cross the finish line. Volunteers will NOT be required to provide medical assistance.

NOTE: Volunteers for this position must be at least 18 years old.

Time Commitment: Maximum of 2 hours on race day

Post Race Party Assist

Description: Volunteers for this position will assist the food preparation staff in distributing the post-race party food. Tasks include marking runners’ bibs as they receive their food, distributing food, and helping to control the lines of participants waiting for their food.

NOTE: Volunteers for this position must be at least 16 years old.

Time Commitment: Maximum of 3 hours on race day

What to Wear: Post Race Party Assist volunteers will inside the food tent in the party area outside Foreman Field and should dress for the existing and forecasted weather. Volunteers will be given volunteer t-shirts and we encourage you to wear comfortable shoes.
